Admissions application for UTSA for new school year will become available in early July 2017.

Application Deadlines

All required documents, transcripts, fees, and test scores must be on file by 5:00 p.m. on the date of the deadline. Deadlines which fall on a weekend or UTSA holiday will be extended until 5:00 p.m. the following business day. Applicants whose files are not completed by the final deadline will not be considered for admission to UTSA for the semester to which they applied.

Incoming Freshmen

High school class ranking is required for graduates of accredited public or private high schools. For applicants whose high school transcript does not present a rank, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will assign a rank.

If you are a freshman you must take either the SAT or the ACT to be considered for admission.

Applying as a Freshman

  • Apply online at org
  • Pay a $60 application processing fee or if applicable, submit a fee waiver
  • Submit official high school transcript. Electronic Parchment and E-Script PDF transcripts can be sent to: [email protected] Official PDF transcripts must be sent from the institution directly to UTSA. Official high school transcripts can also be requested by your high school counselor and sent through Naviance.
  • Submit test scores from the testing agency: ACT Code: 4239 SAT Code: 6919
  • If you are to be considered for admission through committee review, submission of an essay and letters of recommendations are highly suggested.
  • If you receive dual college credits, submit official college transcripts (not required for a decision)
  • If graduating early from high school, submit a recommendation letter from your guidance counselor.

Note: SAT scores combine Critical Reading (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) and Math. Test scores must be submitted from the testing agency. Meeting the stated scores for Committee Review does not guarantee admission. An admissions decision will not be made until all required documents are received. Students who are admitted to the university are not guaranteed admission to a specific academic program.

Transfer Students

Admission Requirements

Transferring < 12 completed credit hours

If you are an applicant transferring with less than 12 completed transferable credit hours (not including dual credit), you must meet the same Guaranteed Admission requirements as first-time freshmen and have a least a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit the official high school transcript, SAT/ACT score from the testing agency, and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.

Transferring with 12 to 29 completed credit hours*

If you are an applicant transferring with 12 to 29 completed transferable credit hours (not including dual credit), you must have a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.

Meet the same Guaranteed Admission requirements as first-time freshmen and have a least a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit the official high school transcript, SAT/ACT score from the testing agency, and be eligible to return to the most recent institution.

* If you are applying for summer 2016, you will need to meet Guaranteed Admission requirements for first-time freshman and have a minimum 2.25 GPA

Transferring 30 or more completed credit hours

If you have 30 or more completed hours, you must have at least a 2.25 Cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale in all transferable coursework. Submit official transcripts from each college/university attended. Coursework in progress and dual credit hours are not considered in this calculation. All attempted work is considered. Repeated courses are not excluded. You must be eligible to return to the most recent institution.

Freshman applicants who demonstrate financial need can submit an application fee waiver to cover the $60 ApplyTexas application fee. Submitting a wavier does not mean your fees are waived. You must be eligible and submit the correct documentation to support your request.

UTSA Fee Waiver Policy and Request

Transfer, post baccalaureate and international applicants do not quality for the fee waiver option and are required to pay the application fee.

Other Scholarships available:

Terry Scholarship for Incoming Freshman and Transfer Terry Scholarship is available at UTSA. Traditional Terry Scholarship for high school seniors can apply through Apply Texas by January 1st. Transfer Terry Scholarship is a separate application with a deadline of April 15th. See link for more information.
